Well, that was a week I wouldn't want to repeat. Best guess is that various factors have seen this year's clutch hatched with a very poor / compromised immune system. Sadly, nature is a challenging mistress and there is very little we can do to influence or alter that.
Our remaining ducklings are now approximately 14 days old starting to show a little more interest in food as they continue to grow.
Typical toddlers they have their own schedule when it comes to mealtimes and aren't interested in following our routine for feeding them so we're getting through additional food keeping 2 plump pigeons fed and rotund.
I'm not sure the pigeons will be capable of flying out of the quad for much longer. I'm sure the ducklings will improve their eating schedule when we start to introduce mealworms in a few days and some mashed sweetcorn a little time after that.
