First on the agenda for this update is that we can now confirm Daphne has produced 14 babies this year and they are all healthy and doing well.
They are now 10 days old and very confident and bold little souls often wandering off from mum to explore the quad and drive her to distraction.
Readers from last year will no doubt be pleased to hear that Podgy Pidgeon is also back on the scene and appears to have learned nothing from his mistakes of last year when he ate so much he was unable to leave for the rest of the day. He spent his first day back waddling around the quad, constantly checking his fitbit to see if he had burned off those calories.
For the first couple of weeks they are fed exclusively on chick crumb as it contains all the vitamins and minerals for a healthy start. As they progress they are moved on to growers pellets, dried mealworms and tinned sweetcorn. At this point we get through 20 large tins of corn each week and around 2kgs of mealworms.
